With 5G networks in the not-too-distant future, an Internet of Things may become a reality. For technology designers, this moment - before widespread ubiquitous computing - marks an opportunity to expand considerations of what ideas, identities, and biases interactive technologies could embody (or perpetuate) in a densely-connected world.
DIGITS were developed using humor, play, & femme-forward critical design frameworks. DIGITS push against traditional tech design paradigms that inherently center on masculine or 'gender-neutral' contexts.
DIGITS consider an alternative reality where feminine identity and its corresponding rituals - i.e., wearing press-on nails - are advantaged in technology design.
